To solve the puzzle of who you truly are, you need to start at the dawn of human history, in the book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible. Here you will find the pieces to begin to build the borders of your life so that you can fill in the colorful pieces that make you who you are.
Your Family Tree Begins with Adam and Eve
The first chapter of Genesis explains very clearly that heaven and earth were created by God in just six days. God spoke the word and everything He commanded came into existence. However, He saved his final and most beloved creation — man and woman — for the sixth day when He used His own hands to create them in his own image. He brought them to life by breathing His own spirit into them. Adam and Eve are all of our great (I don’t know how many times) grandparents. This is where your family tree begins.
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.
31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Genesis 1:26-31 (ESV)
Who Am I Really? – Your Life Begins
What did God mean when He said “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness?” Does it mean that when you look in the mirror that is what God looks like? Because God is spirit, he does not resemble a human being’s reflection. Making man and woman in His image does not refer to physical appearance — our flesh and blood. We were made to resemble God’s characteristics. However this doesn’t mean men and women are equal with God, for in (Hebrews 2:7) we find that God made us a little lower than the angels
